Canterlot Wondercolts Cosplay by Drachefrau Canterlot Wondercolts Cosplay by Drachefrau
So, while I was trying on my NMM cosplay the other day, I had the random thought of: "Why couldn't I have picked something easier?" This thought then turned into the sewing equivalent of "SQUIRREL!" So, I present you to a cosplay for the Canterlot Wondercolts, because RANDOM. The tail secures via Velcro to a beltloop, and is about 30" from top to tip. It feels kind of weird to walk around in and feel the tail bump my legs, but it's definitely more comfortable than NMM! I skipped the sweater...90 degrees in Baltimore humidity & several thousand Bronies in a single building makes that a definite NO.

Now to see the reactions at the Con; I'm hoping for positive, as opposed to "EQG?! What is wrong with you? Don't you know this is supposed to be a gathering for grownups who like a kids' show about candy colored horses?!" ;) Guess we'll see. Now, back to working on Cadance's wedding dress!

EDIT: Here are views of the "swish" vs the "stuffed" version: drachefrau.deviantart.com/art/… . If you are interested in getting a set of your own, please check out my Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/DrachefrauFa… . I will make these throughout the year, and post sets as they become available. Eventually I hope to add plushies, bags, and other kinds of goodies for sale. Thanks for looking!

Haha, I made a set for me as well~! Of course, I hand sewed mine, so it took a LOOONG time (5 hours straight, rushing it). I use it all the time. :D

Even with a machine, sewing the tail curves takes a bit so they won't pucker. Nice to know others are rocking the Wondercolts!

Once you are ready to ship outside US, I will contact you again because I might be doing a mass order. :D

Well, if you note me how many sets you might be getting and the city/country, I can get you an estimate of shipping costs and how long it will take me to put them together (just sold the last complete set I had finished). I don't mind shipping outside US, but due to the huge disparity in shipping costs depending on country, I figured it'd be easier to work those out on DA. Thank you for your interest!

Why don't you ship outside the US?

I do; it's just more expensive, and varies greatly by country. I will edit my Etsy to say that those outside the US who would like to order items from me to contact me via DA. Thank you for pointing that out to me!

They are $35 a set for the "swish" types, $45 for a fully stuffed tail (plus S&H). Each set comes with ears and a tail. How soon did you need these by? I'm not the world's fastest sewer, but I'll do my best.

Hello, Amanda! Unfortunately, I do not currently have any EQG Wondercolt sets available for sale at this time. I'm gearing up to vend at BronyCon, and since they didn't sell very well last year, I've not made any. I'm very sorry. I do accept PayPal, but I've put commissions on hold until after BronyCon, and I have quite a list still to work on. It wouldn't be fair to knock out a Wondercolts set for you when some folks will have been waiting for over a year for me to finally get to their items. :(

However, I will post a journal when that happy day arrives that I've cleared up all my backlogged commissions, and will very happily make you a set then. I do not accept money until your product is done and meets with your approval.

Have a great day yourself, and my apologies for not being able to provide you what you have been looking for.

Hi! Thank you for your patience, I sewed a pile of tails today; now they just need Velcro fasteners, flipped, and stuffed (or swished...). If you would like to note me your email address & zip code, I can send you a Paypal invoice. I prefer not to have folks pay until their items are ready to ship, but I know that isn't how most folks operate. Thank you!

Yep; I still have sets not spoken for in my first run of 12, I'll be glad to put one down for you. I am working the last of the kinks out of the tail pattern (tossed the pattern from the first time; didn't think I would need it again), then it's game time!

would it be ok if i just got the ears? sorry it's just i wanted to make my  own tail but i have no idea how to make the ear and i liked the way you did them. I dont mean to offend you but i wanted a tail thats more...swishy, if that makes any sense at all

No offense taken, funny you ask that, though. I finished tweaking the tail to a pattern I would be proud to sell last night, and after I flipped it but before I stuffed it I thought, "that looks kind of cool." However, I was thinking about putting in enough stuffing to hold the tail base out, and leave the rest of the tail flowing. That way it'll swish and move when you spin around, although it won't hold its overall shape as well without the stuffing. Watching the movie, that tail breaks every law of physics ever made; I don't think Rarity made them, it was Pinkie!

I will be asking folks if they would be interested in getting them that way, especially since it means I can do them faster & cheaper (a third of a bag of poly-fil is a pain to stuff, let me tell you; it takes foreevvveerrr). However, if you were interested in just a set of ears, that can be arranged as well. :D

Cool; I only made a shirt in home ec...and the sleeves were two different sizes. Anyhoo, just the ears would be $15, plus S&H. Please note your email and zip code, and I will send a PayPal invoice. Thank you!

Awesome.  Do you possibly have a guesstimate yet as to what the price will be for a set?

I'm guessing between $35 and $40, or somewhere around that price range; I have to figure out how to cover the headbands w/fabric and see how much time/fabric it takes. I tried to find headbands that are already blue that are the right size, and they are either hideously expensive or just plain hideous, so I am working w/blank craft headbands as a base. I think I found the only one in existence in that bargain bin when I made the first set. :D

I have a few questions, as I am planning on making this also. How much of each color fabric would I need, and what kind of stitch would be best for this?

Well, it depends on what you want the final result to be, and how big you want to make it. My best recommendation is to experiment and see what works best for you.

I am working on getting my current commissions closed out and then will be working on making sets for sale. I hope to have some available in a month; it depends on how much time I have to sew. I will post a journal to get an idea of how many folks want sets once I am clear of the commissions. :D

It's from the Equestria Girls movie. They put on the headband w/ears & a stuffed tail and do a dance in a cafeteria to a catchy song called "Helping Twilight Win the Crown." The school mascots are the Wondercolts. :D
